Paris hotel accommodation is expensive, even in the middle of January. Finding a nice hotel in a good location for a decent price is no mean feat. If you’re planning on visiting Paris, book your accommodation well in advance as prices tend to rise fairly quickly (as I discovered).
I wanted a hotel within easy reach of all the main attractions and that wasn’t a million miles away from buzz of the city. The Best Western Star Champs Elysees is very conveniently located 2 minutes walk from the Arc de Triomphe. There is also a well connected metro station at the Arc that runs down the Champs Elysees & to the Louvre as well as another line running close to the Eiffel Tower. For the price of the room it was a great location.
From reading other reviews online I was expecting my room to be small, which it was, but perfectly adequate. The décor was modern and the room was well maintained. The only thing I could fault is the bed; it could have been more comfortable.
The room was spotless. There was a high gloss black lampshade on the desk and I couldn’t find a single smudge or cloth mark on it. Same goes for the bathroom.
The reception staff were very friendly at both check-in and check-out and any time I needed assistance the staff gave plenty of time to both myself and other guests to answer whatever query I had.
I had a pleasant stay at the Best Western Star Champs Elysees and as long as you don’t mind the small room size, it’s a good base to explore the city without having to pay a small fortune in the process.
